LWML

Lutheran Womens Missionary League

Meets on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

Our motto is to “Serve the Lord with Gladness” and we do that by affirming our relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world. Also visit the Minnesota North District LWML site.

LWML MISSION GRANTS:
Many of you support the mission work of the LWML through your mite donations that are collected the fifth Sundays throughout the year. Here are two of the LWML Mission Grants selected in the past year.

National Grant–Training Indigenous Pastors & Deaconesses $100,000.
The cultures of many countries do not encourage men teaching women. This makes sharing the Gospel through missionary pastors difficult. This grant will provide funding for women from other countries to be trained in the LCMS Deaconess program at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, IN so they can carry the message of salvation back to women in their countries. This grant also provides scholarship funds to train men from around the world so they can become pastors. These men go back to their home countries where they understand the language and culture. They are able to share the gospel with passion and clarity, understanding the message of salvation and the language of their people.

MN North District LWML–Scholarships for full-time church work students $50,000.
This grant maintains scholarship funding to help educate and train individuals in our MN North District who are
called for full-time church work vocations at LCMS affiliated Concordia Universities & Seminaries. Scholarships are
awarded on the basis of financial need, academic standards and college acceptance.
Thank you for your continuing support of the mission work of the LWML.

Mite Box History ~ The Widow’s Mite
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything – all she had to live on” (Mark 12:41-43).    Mites are collected on the 5th Sunday.

Prayer Shawl Ministry– Like to Knit? Make a shawl with the yarn and needles provided and Trinity will give them to members of our church and community who are suffering or in crisis as a loving reminder of God’s comfort and presence by giving them a prayer shawl to wrap around their shoulders and feel God’s unending love. Contact the church office if you would be able to knit or crochet a shawl.
